About us.

Broad Run processes more than 700 tons of construction and demolition waste per day in a 26,000-square-foot facility.

Materials include wood, metals, aggregate, rigid plastics, biosoil and cardboard. Broad Run Recycling is the only third-party certified construction waste recycling facility in the Washington Metropolitan Area.
BRR is centrally located for service throughout all of Northern Virginia and provides safe and efficient tipping of containers during inclement weather into our clean, level concrete floor.

Our goal is to achieve higher quality construction and demolition waste diversion by encouraging a verification standard for recycling facilities willing to accurately quantify waste data. With BRR, you not only get the best service, you may also qualify for the new United States Green Building Council (USGBC) LEED pilot credit point.

Our process.

1 / Weigh-in and disposal
Truck weighs in, and takes the construction waste material to an open bay. The truck then disposes of material onto the facility floor.
2 / Intake
Spotters capture the load material on handhelds and inputs the load data into our platform. This data is customer specific and is tied to the container number identifying the specific customer, job, location, and photo proof of the contents of that load.
3 / Sorting
Grapple excavators and loaders work together to place the material onto our sort and separating machine “Big Blue”.
Material is sorted and separated into individual bunkers via Big Blue and by hand.
3 / Processing
Sorted material is then transferred to recycling facilities to be repurposed and reused.
While the materials are being sorted, the truck weighs out and captures their load weight in our system.
Customer specific data is shared with the customer for the purposes of internal and external sharing.
